I tried the Aluminess tire carrier but there was too much hardware for my liking. I may run up to Oregon and have them put this one on. With a cover it might look ok.

I just installed this unit on our van. We have a tire cover on the way. Installation was a breeze, the company supplies all you'll need, instructions are clear, a bit vague when first read due to lack of and quality of pictures. Once the panel was off the inside of the door all was clear. They utilize the hole for the existing door catch that you remove, so only three holes are drilled. Backing plates are provided for all mounting bolts, plastic spacers hold the unit away from the door. They provide additional panel clips, which I only needed one of so now I have spares for any additional projects. :thumbup:

Looks nice and sturdy. Does this mount fit a T1N?

That sounds great! Now I have to figure out if my larger tire will cover too much of the license plate or taillights - I don't want to get in trouble with CHIP.

Where are you getting the tire cover?

BTW, you have a nice looking rig. How much clearance do you have?

I don't know how much larger your tire is but there is about an inch and a half before a tire would block the plate and then it would only be the center section of the plate. The tire cover we are going to use is one that slips on and is held by an elastic band, we've tried one already but the dimensions were too tight, another is on the way so we haven't really given it a test yet. As far as clearance goes it is deceiving, it looks lower than it is. It clears all but the highest curbs when parking and I've only drug the exhaust once when parking in an uphill driveway, which I should have known better anyway.:cheers:
