I like that split level living style and how the drawers and utensils are custom for each other. Best part is the espresso machine on the wall. Forget the 6-wheel drive.
We drove from NC down to Argentina in a VW Van. The main issue with the Darien Gap is security. From what I've read, any real 4x4 would make it (the Unicat would make it in style!). We met a couple of folks with these monster RV's in S. America and although I certainly drool over them, I think they are better suited for the middle east and Africa. Much deliberation over our next RV left the Sprinter and the Mercedes 1820 truck. We met a Swiss couple with a Sprinter 4x4 (iglhaut conversion) and I poured over the 4x4 components and decided that the sprinter is the way to go. Traveling down south security is a main concern, and these big rigs simply don't fit into a lot of parking lots making them more of a hassle IMO.
We put the van on a boat to circumvent the Darien gap.
