So I went to the San Francisco Car Show that they have every Thanksgiving just so that my wife can check out the cars. I already have a Sprinter so why would I want anything else? :bounce:

Then I saw the new Chevy Silverado Extended Cab.

332

Rear side doors that open 170 degrees and can be equipped with full drop down windows. The ergonomics were also nice. Only thing is I thought they were going to use a Hydramatic 5 speed auto. :idunno:

Not only because I have an F350 but Chevy can't and will NOT ever be as good as a FORD Truck. Sorry:(

lol, Toyota is good I have an 04 Tacoma but it's not in the FORD or CHEVY class. Even with the new Tundra coming out it's still not as tuff. Sorry:tongue:

I know, rehashing something that could tickle a few diehard domestic buyers...:bounce:

It depends on what Ford and Chevy class you're talking about. The new Tundra is targeted at the half-ton market. If you look at the specs, Ford and Chevy doesn't even come close with their 1/2 tons.

And I've never even own a Toyota.

ps. It's really dissappointing that GM came out with their newer body style and then continue to use their 4-speed automatic.

I'd like to see that Toy pull a fully loaded stock trailer. Let's see, 4500 lbs for the trailer and 1450 lbs per head for 10 head. My Silverado handles that nicely. And no I won't touch a Ford, their diesels don't start in the winter. Oh, and yes 8' beds are a must.

Is that bowtie only good for 1/2 ton ? even a Jap 4 cylinder can cope with a ton

Those 1/2 ton, 3/4 ton, and 1 ton designations doesn't mean anything anymore. A 1/2 ton is like a 1 ton 30 years ago or something like that.

In the March `07 issue of Popular Mechanics they compared full sized pick ups from the "Big Three", Toyota and Nissan. Their results were depressing for the US.

#1. Nissan
#2.Toyota
#3. Chevy
#4. Ford
#5. Dodge

We've been making these trucks for how long :idunno: ? And we're getting spanked hard by new comers? Pathetic! Just like Sprinter coming in and making the US full sized vans look silly.

Their results were depressing for the US.

One thing that almost got me into a 2005 Silverado was the price. For a 1500, 5.3l, crew-cab, 4x4, Z71, plus some options etc. was only $21,000. :wtf: Without the incentives, employee price plus cash discount, the price hovered around $34,000.

Of course after they did that, a lot of people who paid full price for the prior year had their vehicle resale value plummet.

Giving it away is a very short fix too.......

The big 3 are in serious trouble, as they are not making any money by the gifts they are offering to get buyers into showrooms.

Well it's nice to think at least that I've been missed:laughing: .

One thing that almost got me into a 2005 Silverado was the price.... I agree. Also, from time time, low or 0% financing. THAT is huge when it come to the bottom line. I don't know first hand but have heard that the foreign car truck makers do not negotiate on the price much. That certainly was the case on my van (somaybe I do know?) but that was a little different I guess being a new model and all. Truck for the buck?...you've got to figure resale value (advantage foreign automakers) in there somewhere also dealer service AFTER the sale. Appearance...I still think American pick up trucks are much better looking:thumbup:

Giving it away is a very short fix too....... I agree here too. The fix is build it better than the competion! The US can do this!!
