I have a copy, but have not done a conversion yet. I recently got the 2nd edition. I think you'll find the forum here much more useful about nuts-and-bolts issues as you move along through a conversion, but the book is really useful in bringing it all together and giving you a really solid overview of the scope of a conversion and different approaches to various aspects of the task. Again, no conversion so far, but it seemed totally worth the money to me.

Thanks Paul, glad you found the Sourcebook useful!

Actually I sell two books: the 265-page Sprinter RV Conversion Sourcebook (http://www.sprinter-rv.com/sprinter-rv-conversion-sourcebook/), the 6th edition is now available, and the 200-page Sprinter RV Buyer's Guide (http://www.sprinter-rv.com/2013-sprinter-rv-buyers-guide/), I'm working on the 2014 version of that right now.

There's no way that they could contain the depth of information that this forum offers, but they do offer a pretty decent (and time-saving!) summary of many of the important issues in a) converting a Sprinter into an RV and b) choosing a commercial Sprinter RV conversion.

I have both books, one for conversion knowhow and the second one listing conversion companies and their models. Both of these books were very helpful. Without these books I would likely not found the http://www.safaricondo.com/LCsprinter/index-en.php which I am using as the model for my conversion. In my opinion both books helped to reduce the time of the steep learning curve I had to go through for my conversion. Copying working ideas increases your conversion success rate; DIY conversion is still a prototype with all bugs included.
In the process of invention (some of you could be familiar with TRIZ) bulk of time is spent on studying a problem and potential existing solutions in multiple domains. I believe that preparation study time is crucial for a successful conversion with minimum issues as well, for me these books and this forum were and are invaluable.

Thanks George. I think the toilet idea in the Safari condo is pretty neat idea. Thought about that type of toilet but thought it would be a pita to dump. That location looks pretty easy to service. Maybe as we get more advanced camping but for now poo powder, garbage bag and suitcase toilet works for now. Wondering if it is a fixed location or if it moves around?

They have 2 toilets locations and the folding shower. The one at the rear of the sliding door is on the slider to allow room for the bed and the one just behind the passenger seat is permanent, I think, I picked the latter location. My unit is designed, I need to spec material list, order and built.

I like their open space designs, lots of windows is definitely my choice for any camping vehicle that is why I started with the passenger van.

The book is a great tool. I am about half way through a conversion and find it to be a great reference. Very helpful ideas and sources for materials.

Working on my own conversion and found the sourcebook an excellent resource. I go back to it often.

The Sprinter conversion sourcebook is great. I've been dreaming and planning and completing my conversion slowly but steadily, going back to it always. Between this forum and that, you have everything you need.
