View Full Version : New(to me) sprinter
I pick up my '04 2500 Dodge Sprinter tonight. A 158 with only 9,000 miles. I am pretty excited to get to work on the camper conversion. I have been lurking around forums and the ideas are flowing. I teach and plan to travel in the summer with my wife and 2 kids as well as use it as a team van for mountain bike racing. One thing that I have not been able to find is ideas on how to make furniture removable but safe. Maybe a T-track system of some sort? What have others done? Any links that I may have missed?
Thanks,
Mike

Good to see you here, Mike. Send us pictures as you progress in your project. Safe and removable! Excellent goal.
I posted this up in the T1N, but was hoping to get some advise when I talk to the dealer before taking delivery.
I went to a dealer 100 miles away to pick up my new 04 2500 with only 9000 miles last night. Traded in my suv and hit the highway only to reach a max speed of 60mph. I turned around and went back to the dealer. The techs had gone home for the night. I test drove it Friday night in the snow and never got going in it to notice a loss of power. The dealer is going to fix and deliver it to me. From what I have read, it sounds like the turbo resonator. Is there anything else that I should make sure I check before they return it to me? If I ask them if it is a Q5 replacement will they know what I am talking about? I still have faith that I will love the vehicle.

MAF
Have them do a scan.
The dealer is replacing the turbo. Really I not sure if they know exactly what the problem is. The codes all have to do with the turbo. From what I have read, it sounds like the servos might be sticking. Btu hey, I am not a mechanic and I sure as heck won't be staying in any Holiday Inn expresses once I get the Sprinter:smirk: Being 4 years old and only 9,000 miles, I am sure it sat around for long periods. Hope to take delivery by the weekend. Better to have the problems work out now than have them come up on the road with the wife and kids. I'll post pictures of my conversion as I go.

A week after we picked up our 2003 Sprinter, we experienced a loss of power. Almost couldn't make it home. Took it to a Dodge Sprinter mechanic and he replaced the EGR valve - - totally covered under warranty. It runs great now!
The dealer delivered our sprinter last night. They replaced the turbo and resonator. We have had 8" of snow over night so I found out how it drives in the snow. The 158 drives smaller than it is and little trouble in the snow. I can't wait to start the customizing. Pictures this weekend.
