Do these Rv's come with a spare tire ?
I was just wondering.
It's a newbie question I admit, but I haven't seen this addressed anywhere.
Thanks

We're picking ours up in just over a month and you've got me wondering the same thing, now.

Am anxious to hear from PortlandRV and others on this.

Some do come with a spare tire.....others do not.
Depends on the individual RV upfitter....what other RV items they but under the
back of the Sprinter (i.e. generators, tankage).
If it's a class B cab/chassis, there is a rack under the back for the spare tire when the
cab/chassis is shipped to the upfitter.
If it's a cargo van conversion, these have the spare tire rack as well....same as the cargo/passenger designs.
The upfitter makes the decision as to whether to keep the spare tire or not.
Perhaps some of the upfitters are of the opinion that Sprinter RV's are like big trucks
and if you need tire service you call the on the road tire service truck.
I know that many of the Class A RV's ascribe to this philosopy and do not have spare
tires.
The same tire service trucks with the big jacks and compressors that service the 18 wheelers
seem to be the ones who assist Class A RV owners with flat tire changes.
Sprinters are not that big and come with a very good 2 stage hydraulic jack, but again, the
RV upfitter may not order or equip their vehicles that way out the door at the upfitters.

Most Class As don't, most Class Cs do. Class Bs can go either way. Generally, for a Class C or B the spare will be on a rack on the back. Just about every Sprinter-based one I've seen has it there.

Since this is in the Leisure Travel section, I assume that BAK61 is asking about the Leisure Travel models. I can confirm that the Serenity and Libero do not a spare. I looked on the website and it appears that the Free Spirit has none on the back and thus likely none. And if I were a betting woman, I would say that the Unity doesn't have one either.

An owner would have to confirm or deny that...

on edit: confirmed with factory. Free Spirit has optional spare tire.

Yes, I was referring to the Unity model. Sorry, thought that was understood.
Thanks

The Unity does NOT come equipped with a spare tire. There is however an emergency tire puncture sealant and compressor located under the passenger seat that Mercedes provides with the Sprinter. Here is an excerpt from the Sprinter owners manual: "The vehicle is equipped either with a spare wheel or with Premium tire sealant. The spare wheel is under the rear of the vehicle (Y page 185). The Premium tire sealant is located in the stowage compartment in the right-hand door sill".

New LTV's come with a 2 year roadside assistance plan provided by Coach Net which covers tire changes. If you're purchasing a new one then you're covered by this plan.

The new class B that is being released on August 3rd does come with an exterior spare located at the rear door. In the teaser video 1 you can see the tire carrier in the dropped down position which allows both rear doors to swing open.

That is the one that the factory told me was an option. None of the rest of the LTVs have a spare.

The EEE units do have one.

Just picked up our new Unity MB two weeks ago and had our first shakedown trip earlier this week. Wonderful RV with lots of space. It definately does not come with a spare. In addtition on the rear duals your cannot hardly even see the valve stems for either tire, especially with the stainless steel 'beauty rims". I'm thinking that the answer is to take it to someone like Les Schwab and see if they can put some type of valve stem extensions on the rear duals so I can at least check/add air to them.

Before I picked mine up from my dealer, I had longer valve stems put on... I used this fellow that was recommended on many different RV boards:

The owner of the company, Chuck, is always ready to help you with questions about tires and valves.

Even with the extensions, it isn't easy to check or air the tires with those massive simulators. I hate them...
