Hello,

I am having a PowerTech PTRV-3 diesel generator installed in my Sportsmobile Sprinter van conversion. It is a regular wheebase (144") 3500 model.

I would like to know a little about what to expect.

-Can you tell me what life is like living with one?
-What to look for at delivery of the van from an installation standpoint?
-What tricks have you discovered that makes life a little easier with this product?
-Is it the perfect little gem?

Any and all comments are appreciated.

Thank you in advance.

Chum

Don’t be surprised when you scrape the unit about every other driveway that you enter!! Its a stupid design that leaves only 7" or 8" ground clearance at just about the furthest point back on the van.

We had some troubles with our generator install when we got our van, so they waited on install, but did install the hitch for the step bumper and the necessary casters, to prevent the scraping of the generator. We scraped the casters on nearly every driveway we pulled into. Maybe what we were planning to use the van for wasn't conveyed clearly enough, but 6.5" of clearance is not early enough. We opted to not install the generator and have since removed the hitch/casters. Great idea in theory, bad in actual practice. Hope that helps.
