So what doe's the manual suggest, I don't think I will read it when I pick up the future crafter tomorrow.

I just don't want to do anything totally retarded in the first 6 miles.

So anyone have access to that page of the manual?

I would just keep it under 2400 rpms for the first 50 miles and under 2600 for the first 500,even while accelerating. You WILL definately feel it loosen up after about 300-350 miles. I have to be honest with you, I don't think this motor really cares how you drive it. I just wouldn't keep the hammer down until you hit 82 MPH everytime you accelerate and you should be fine. You will burn more oil if you do and contaminate the DPF quicker for its first regen I would imagine. After 6K I don't think mine ( DPF)has fired up yet. and I burnt 2.5 quarts on my journey home from dealer. 2200 miles roughly accross the US. See if your salesman will toss in a few quarts of the Mobil ESP 229.51 oil for you. its a nice little free bee that you will need. Good luck and Congadulations

Page 172 of the manual indicates the following:

Drive at varying road and engine speeds for the first 1000 miles (1500 km).

Avoid heavy loads during this time, for example driving at full throttle. Do not exceed 2/3 of the maximum permissible engine speed for each gear.

Avoid depressing the accelerator pedal in vehicles beyond the pressure point (kickdown).

Do not downshift manually in order to brake.

Only use shift ranges 4,3,2 and 1 for slow driving, for example in mountainous terrain.

After 1000 miles, you may gradually bring the vehicle up to full road and engine speeds.

Portland Freightliner also told me to not use the cruise control during this break-in period.
