We are in the market for a used PleasureWay or LTV, hopefully gently used. Any leads out there?

We are considering selling our 2007 Pleasure Way 2500 hi/144.
Here's the ringer --- It is nearly unused, 8,500 miles, serviced annually, has the Riordan resonator.
I have no idea what it is worth.

The traffic on this forum, and particularly the PW string, is so low you will not likely get much response. Note how few posts there are in the last year. I suggest trying on-line sites like rvtrader.com, etc. for leads. Even then you will only find a few used PW's. Also, watch the prices as the used ones have starting prices as overdone as the new ones. This is a bad economy for Class B's and their retail sales are just as low as 2009 and 2010, which is about 40% of "normal". Take charge of the pricing. Offer low and if they say no, walk away. You are in charge, not the seller. You will likely have to travel just to look, although you can have the seller post lots of pictures, etc to review first.

T-Montana, you are correct about the volume on this site, when compared to others, but it's still worth the time to ask.
We just purchased a Class B, knowing the state of the economy. My wife and I just retired, as many Baby-Boomers are now doing, and while travelling is relatively expensive fuel wise, Class Bs are less expensive than most of the other classes. This pushes their desirability up during these tough times when some of us are going to travel, in spite of fuel costs.
As you pointed out, you will have to travel to see PWs and other Class Bs, which makes it expensive to issue "take it or leave it" type offers, unless you are talking about new vehicles. And, while it is not impossible, it's uncomfortable to conceal that you are from out of town when inspecting a used vehicle and making an offer. While being from out of town does help in suggesting that an offer may be a take it or leave it possibility, it is also presents an additional expense with each venture, which a savvy seller is going to know in trying to reach a win-win price.
Archeogal - alienating a used vehicle owner via a low-ball price, which they may feel ALMOST compelled to accept due to economic realities, could have the effect of not accepting any offer from the buyer. While everyone wants a good deal, no one likes to feel ripped off.:2cents:

We went through the same situation a couple of months ago and found the best way to get a lead on all the PW RV's that came on the market was to sign up for google alerts. Every time a new "for sale" was posted on the internet I would get a message. Many were just dealer posting
but eventually I got a great hit and responded quickly. I had been close on a used one with low mileage when I got the listing for a new one that was a dealer consignment that they really wanted to move. Since it was new I negotiated the price over the phone before driving from North Carolina to New Jersey to pick it up. Ended up getting it for $5K less than the used one and got a full warranty. The long search paid off so I would encourage you to keep looking and as others have said be prepared to travel. You can insist on a lot of pictures and then negotiate by phone to get a fair price and then send a deposit and go pick it up. One other thought is that John in sales at Van City in St. Louis is very knowledgeable and from time to time has past customers who want to sale their van instead of trading it in. He can hook you up with them to make the best deal you can. Good luck and let us know what you find. This forum has been extremely helpful to me and I am sure you will find it to be the same.

Just traded in our 2008 Pleasureway Excel TS for a 2006 Pleasureway Plateau TS that the salesman in RVWORLD in Nokomis Florida called me about. It was super clean and I traded and they delivered the 06 to Texas and drove back the 08!!! They actually did a PDI and fixed some things and did an expensive oil change with synthetic.
Yeah I took a chance but Coffey the salesman was honest and he sid how clean the Diesel 06 was. My 08 on the old 07 chassis (so there is no wandering issue as with the 08 chassis and up) was in excellent condition with only 27,000 miles.
Seems like a good place to buy a Pleasureway. They offered to pay for the gas to drive there from South Texas but with the flooding last month we decided on a professional driver to deliver it at no charge to us.....

Depends on what you want. I thought you would have joined this forum because you wanted a Sprinter Pleasureway, which would be the Plateau.
The Basis is built into a Chevy van.
The Pleasureway owners and people interested are on the Yahoo groups system. Look for the group called pwclassbvans group which is the only one available for future owners to get information and find used units.

Hi Rob,
I can see why you bought a PW Plateau TS and sold your 08 PW Excel TS. I found the Excel a problem on the road.I almost bought a new 2010 Excel but after taking it for a drive on a windy and rainy day I ran in the other direction.I dont think the front end mod needed has been applied yet--not to any I test drove. Rear wheel spacers and rear anti swar bars help but Ford steering geometry seems to be the problem. I finally bought a 2006 PW Plateau TS with 2007 inteior build. We love it. Easy on fuel too., Cheers.
