Hello Westy2005 -
A minor road clearance improvement could come from a change of tires and/or rims. You could use the search function here to learn more. The rise to the undercarriage clearance would be very minor so you would likely make the tire change for other reasons and get the tiny rise along with it.
There are a number of European 4x4 options for the Sprinter that would give a more useful road clearance improvement. There is at least one 4x4 Mercedes James Cook out there. Once again, use the search function here, at the Yahoo SprinterVan Group, or search the Wide Wild Web to learn more.
I haven't heard of anyone raising the ride height using any other methods but that doesn't mean that someone hasn't tried it out there . . .

Thanks so much Zach, that pointed me in the right direction.
TIRES/RIMS: switch from the original 16" to 18": 8.5J x 18 ET 48 265/60 ~$3000
LOAD LIFTER: not sure if this kind of thing would help with clearance, but for $300 http://www.strutmasters.com/Sprinter-Van-LoadLifter-5000-p/al-57147-dsv.htm

Dan, what do you need the extra hight for ?
to carry more weight ?
to get over bumps ?
or to go off road ?
for more weight just install booster springs or springs made for a heavier van (make sure they fit first)
same again to get over bumps, bigger/heavier springs will lift it up...
but if you want to go off road, be warned that the rear axle ground clearance won't change so that will be your limiting factor...
I fitted an extra leaf to each of the rear springs on my sprinter so it looked better with the weight on... can't legally carry any extra weight... but at least it's arse isn't on the ground any-more !
