Ordered a 2007 Dodge Sprinter 3500 Cargo Van, diesel, 170 wb, 11030 Gvw on March 1 2007. Haven't been able to pin down a delivery date yet. Has anyone got any ideas as when they will begin delivery?

My old 98 (purchased in 97) GMC van is gettin' tired of hauling around anvils and shoes.

what the dealership always told us was they are only allowed to import so many per year. So, each dealer will get lets say 5 a month. it could be a while, or you may get yours real soon. they never could give us dates either.

Again, im just relaying to you what ive always been told. The dealership that we got ours from, we got lucky for both. For the first one (which is now mine) was sitting in the lot, unsold. dad grabbed that as fast as he could. it was great for courier, cause it was the largest you can get. And again same thing happened when i took over the older van, and he got the 2007. it was just sitting there, waiting to be snatched up. And he did just that. worked out wonderfully, cause courier in an F-350 was ok, but in the rain an snow, tarping was a REAL downer. And the fuel cunsomption was atrocious. he knew i wanted a sprinter, so the deal was set in stone.

Hi Aztek,

not sure if five per month is the magic number. My dealer told me that he has 70 vans on order and received 10. If you order anything extra than you can wait up to 6 months or more. If plain white and no extras is your deal you can have any van as soon as available which could still be months. Well, large demand for a great vehicle. What still puzzles me is that for decades( before the Sprinter was offered in the US) people had to rely on After market outfitters for Fiberglass roof add ons which lets face it are ugly, most of them anyway. So why does Ford (Helloooooooooo) anyway not offer anything like the Sprinter? They do in Europe. Not that I would by one just wondering. But then again, american Car manufacturers never really offered what people actually wanted or needed. Instead they offer a product and then make you think you need it and makle you want to buy it. That is why almost all american vehicles still come with a standard V8 that nobody needs especially not with the current and rising fuel prises. I am drifting off with what should be in another thread.
So be patient a lot of guys and girl want one so you will just have to wait or go to the "competition". Ahhh, yes there is none.

Cheers

I've read that it takes 6 months if you custom order it. This includes everything from placing it into the computer till it's off the train (depending where you are).

We got ours exactly 6 months. If you ordered it, you can go back to your dealer and they can look up your order to see where your van is in transit. Our fleet manager gave us a code where they can type in and even see where in the production line it is in.

Our van is a T1N so it might be different to the NCV3.

I have read about that. Unfortunately it does not make waiting any easier.

No it doesn't. We were beginning to think that we'll be saving the money for something cheaper until the fleet manager called. So much for saving money. :bounce:

You GVWR is what is holding you up............ The options are what determine when you get it. Alot of changes are being made weekly to the line and shipping procedures. If you look at several dealers and start to see the big GVWR's in , you should expect yours shortly. Thing is you should be notified well before the dealer gets the online listsing up. #'s of cars you sell and Dealer rating are what determine when what and how many you get of what sprinters. 1/3 of dealers low on totem pole will not recieve anything they ordered, they instead recieved the SPEC units, uterly striped down. One good dealer inventory to check is Sherman Dodge of Ohio. They have 106++ Sprinters. They also seem to have very well equiped ones and have recieved them early. Arrigo dodge of Florida and Ron tonkin of Oregon have 50+ sprinters. Funny they also have the best equiped ones too. From what i have noticed most big stock dealers knew what they were ordering and have vehicles equiped already with what is coming standard on the new 08's.

WOW! Incredible! I cannot imagine such patience. I am quite happy with my van (had it about 4 weeks so far) but the idea of waiting 20 weeks was so unpleasant that we arranged for our salesman to drive 800 miles one way to DX ours.

You know, if Chrysler started listening to what customers wanted, they might sell lots more of these vans!
