I was surprised when this grille came in (from oemsprinterparts) that the chrome surround is made of steel & triple chromed. A very well made grille. I cut out the hood strip myself & I was surprised that the chrome skin is metal. It was quite easy (and clean) to cut with a jigsaw so long as you don't forget to tape it off 1st.

Thanks all.
Yeah, it comes with a cd install, but it hasn't been updated to include their custom grilles & kits. But the install was pretty easy anyway. The hardest thing was cutting the hood strip while attached to the hood.
I had been looking at this grille a long time hoping the price would come down (no one else sells it). I finally just emailed them an offer (a really low one too!). They came back with an offer of 10% off & I jumped on it.

Did you take any pictures to document the install by chance?

I just received that style grille with a steel lower surround that would need to be painted. No upper strip like you have. I've got to let all that chrome soak in. Goes well with the strips on the bumper. Too "blingy" for me though:smilewink:

I'm not sure mine is even going to work due to it being a Freightliner. Of course I'm going to give it a shot though.

The updated grille will not fit your Freightliner Sprinter, different headlight and trim than that found on the Dodge and Mercedes and the updated grille does not allow us to trim it to fit. Sorry.

No Scott, I didn't document the install because there has been so many conversions on this forum that I figured it wasn't necessary.

Hey SprntrStkd,
I figure that I get beat out all the time on Ebay by our members. I finally came out on top last night & picked up a sliding door roller assembly for $23.

The 2007 grilles are here but we can't keep them in stock yet. We are getting them in as fast as we can. It looks like it will be sometime in June before we will catch up with pre-orders. Also trying to figure out some badging issues with Altered Sprinter.

I just got back from Salt Lake City to shoot an installation video for the '07 kits, the new Sprinter looks great with the Mercedes badging. Installation is easier too with none of the nasty black adhesive found on the hood of the '05-'06 models. I'll see if I can post some pictures.

I have been dealing with David from sprinterpartsdepot, and I have to say he is one of the finest vendors I have worked with in all my years of purchasing over the internet.

If there was a way to rate vendors here, he would get five stars our of five in my book.

Different world !

In america, you want do get the MB-grill, in germany many wants to have the Doge grill.:smilewink:
At the old sprinter it was very easy to change that part, at the NCV3 you need also the tin-parts below the lights.

But in my opinion, at a sprinter, there belongs a star.

Many greetings,

Arne

Maybe some of the forum members will offer to trade. For us (my wife and me) we don't want to attract any more attention.

You are really quite correct, Arne. In the US there would be some who wouldn't buy one if it weren't branded as if it were made here. Also, in some areas there are fewer Mercedes dealers than there are qualified Dodge dealers, so service would be a greater problem in those areas.

Greetings,

This brings up a question. If you get pulled over by the police and your registration says DODGE, but your vehicle looks like a Mercedes, what happens?

My proof of insurance card will take care of that (vin#), & if that doesn't do it I'll show them my owners manual. If that doesn't do it I'll make a run for it in my speedy Sprinter (ha, ha).

so.... would that work on a 2004 Dodge? I'm interested in Benzing mine out.

Yeah, same as 2006. The extra chrome does look better if you also have the chrome strips on the bumper. I don't expect OEMSprinterparts to drop their price online, but I bet you can deal with them via email.

Almost done with the re-badging of my freightliner. I have done it piece by piece which may have been more expensive than just buying a kit. I had to go with a chrome strip because when I removed the freightliner chrome it revealed lots of chips and some rust on the edge of my hood. Here's what I'm thinking. A black Mercedes Benz sticker above the rear license plate, a large 316CDI on rear door above sprinter one and two of the powered by Mercedes Benz ones on the side. Is that going to be over kill?
